Responsibilities:
Leadership and Guidance: You’ll guide the product development engineering functions ensuring alignment with FBPS strategies. This involves staying informed about industry trends and implementing emerging technologies.
Regulatory Compliance: You’ll apply relevant standards and regulations to FBPS battery products and peripherals. This ensures compliance and safety.
Collaboration: Collaborate with department leaders to achieve project goals and execute FBPS product strategies.
Quality and Timeliness: Ensure technical deliverables meet FBPS quality standards and are delivered on time.
Testing and Safety: Support design validation teams by reviewing test plans to verify design compliance and safety.
Customer Focus: Work closely with marketing to understand customer technical requirements and create multi-generation technical plans for different applications.
Innovation and Assessment: Assess competitive technologies for system-level innovation, cost-effectiveness, performance, and functional advantages.
Risk Management: Proactively support design and integration Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
Service Improvement: Assist service engineering by providing recommendations to enhance service strategies and product technical publications.
Qualifications:
- M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Controls Engineering or equivalent (BS acceptable with sufficient experience)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in li ion battery development for electric vehicle or related programs.
- Understanding of cross functional battery development topics including thermal, mechanical, electrical, BMS, cell characteristics, cell electrical interconnects, abuse response, and functional safety.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills – position requires strong interaction in multi-functional team environment particularly in high-pressure situations (e.g., launch)
- Well versed in development processes such as APQP and/ gate driven product development.
- Working knowledge of DFM, DFA, and VAVE principles.
- demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency with creative problem-solving methods.
- Travel 10–20% of time
