The Opportunity
Join WSP’s Environmental Approvals team as our new Team Leader, helping guide and grow a high‑performing group that shapes some of Victoria’s most significant transport, water, energy and property projects. With strong growth ahead, this role offers the chance to influence team direction, drive excellence in delivery, and play a key part in our evolution.
In this leadership position, you’ll focus on people development, team coordination, and the successful delivery of complex planning and approvals projects. You’ll help cultivate capability, support a positive team culture, and ensure consistent, high‑quality outcomes across the Victorian market.
Enjoy hybrid working with flexibility to work from our Melbourne CBD office and from home 2–3 days per week.
What You'll Do
- Lead, support and deliver environmental assessment and planning projects (EES, EIS, land‑use planning and other statutory approvals).
- Mentor, coach and grow team members, driving capability uplift across the Environmental Approvals practice.
- Strengthen client relationships and collaborate with internal partners across the business.
- Provide planning and approvals inputs to major infrastructure projects across:
- Renewable energy – transmission and generation
- Transport – new infrastructure and Net Zero‑aligned upgrades
- Water – asset maintenance and capital delivery programs
- Property, buildings and land‑use planning
- Work with Commonwealth, State and Local Government agencies, as well as major private‑sector clients including Tier 1 developers.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary specialists—ecologists, acousticians, contamination, engineering, design and engagement—ensuring cohesive project outcomes.
About You
You bring 10+ years of experience in environmental planning and approvals and a drive to deliver outcomes that benefit Victorian communities.
You’ll also bring:
- Strong working knowledge of Victoria’s environmental assessment and approvals frameworks.
- Extensive experience authoring and reviewing EES documentation, Statements of Environmental Effects, Environmental Impact Statements and related statutory reports.
- Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary project inputs and managing client relationships.
- A collaborative, people‑focused leadership style with enthusiasm for mentoring and supporting team growth.
- A desire to continue building your professional profile across Victoria and nationally.
