At Ciel et Terre, we are convinced that floating solar power generation is an efficient and affordable alternative to conventional fossil fuel energies. Employing about 200 people within our head office in Lille, France and subsidiaries in Tokyo, London, Houston, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Tainan, and Bangalore, we are proud to be creating jobs while contributing to the development of low-carbon, sustainable economies and societies.
We have been developing, designing and supplying large scale floating solar power plants (over 1 GWp worldwide) since 2011. To address the lack of space available for large-scale ground-based PV systems, which often take up wide areas of productive land, we developed our Hydrelio® floating PV technology. Patented in 2011, this reliable and cost-effective technology allows the installation of large-scale floating solar systems on quarry lakes, dams, irrigation reservoirs or water-treatment sites. As pioneers and experts in the floating PV market, we are developing strategic partnerships daily and exporting our business and technology worldwide.
Ciel et Terre USA is a system designer and an equipment manufacturer. We design the Hydrelio floating solar racking systems and sell the materials to our developer or EPC contractor customers.
To support the growth of our US market, we are seeking a Floating Solar Technical Support Engineer. The Floating Solar Technical Support Engineer will work closely with the technical and design team to assist in the preparation of engineering deliverables, develop internal tools and processes, maintain design standards and documentation, and provide technical support to the commercial team for pre-sales activities.
Responsibilities:
· Support the design and technical team across a wide range of activities — from preliminary design to engineering deliverables — adapting to the team's priorities and workload.
· Assist in ensuring that designs and engineering outputs meet customer expectations and comply with internal standards, under the guidance of the Technical Manager.
· Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal tools, templates, and processes to increase the efficiency and consistency of the technical team.
· Support cross-team coordination by facilitating communication and information flow between the design, project management, and commercial teams.
· Provide technical support to the sales and commercial teams by delivering preliminary layouts, material estimates, and technical documentation to facilitate pre-sales and business development activities.
Activities
Design & Engineering Support
· Assist in building, consolidating, and adjusting floating solar island designs in line with customer expectations.
· Assist in performing preliminary (static) anchoring design tasks, including CAD layouts and basic engineering calculations.
· Contribute to the preparation of anchoring engineering packages, including structural drawings, calculation notes, reports, and appendices.
· Provide supporting documents (3D renderings, CAD details, etc.) required for technical support and customer communications.
Tools & Process Development
· Develop and maintain an automated reporting tool for anchoring engineering reports.
· Assist the team in designing a new cable management system for the Hydrelio product.
· Build and maintain a database of anchoring materials and a compatibility tool to define which components can be used together.
· Establish a monitoring protocol for floating solar projects located in cold climate regions (snow/ice environmental constraints), to systematically collect field data, photos, and site feedback where no monitoring currently exists.
Standards & Documentation
· Maintain and update internal design templates, CAD standards, and technical document libraries to ensure consistency across projects.
· Support the preparation and updating of contractual deliverables required for anchoring contracts, including final checklists, hazard reports, wind load calculation notes, etc.
· Manage and organize engineering deliverables and project documentation on SharePoint, ensuring traceability and proper version control.
Pre-Sales Support
· Assist with pre-sales activities by preparing preliminary layouts, material quantity estimates, and technical summaries for the commercial team.
· Contribute to the commercial packaging of new Hydrelio product developments (such as the cable management system), producing technical summaries and sales-ready documentation for the commercial team.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or related field)
· Fluent in English. Spanish is a plus.
· Microsoft Office (advanced), SharePoint, AutoCAD (or equivalent 2D CAD software)
· HelioScope and/or PVsyst
· VBA scripting and document automation tools for automated report generation
· Solidworks is a plus
· Strong teamwork and collaborative mindset, with the ability to develop autonomy over time
· Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
· Eager to take initiative and contribute to process improvement
· Analytical, adaptable, and open-minded
· Strong written and oral communication skills
· Comfortable interacting with commercial and customer-facing teams
· Experience in the solar or renewable energy industry is a plus
