Your opportunity
The Carbon Farming Extension Advisor plays a key role in supporting dairy farmers and service providers to build their knowledge of carbon farming, carbon markets and the practical opportunities that improve both profitability and sustainability of farming businesses.
In this national (15-month Fixed Term contract) role, you’ll work with our regional teams and service providers to engage farmers in high quality extension activities. You’ll deliver Profitable Farm Emissions Plan workshops, training and online learning to support real on farm practice change.
This role offers the flexibility to be based in any active dairying region, with travel across regions to deliver extension services where they’re needed most.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver engaging Profitable Farm Emissions Plan workshops and extension activities to boost farmer knowledge and drive practice change.
- Deliver train-the-trainer workshops of Profitable Farm Emissions Plan workshops, followed by co-delivery of workshops to effectively upskill multiple delivery partners nationally.
- Build strong relationships with farmers, advisers, service providers and regional networks to enhance program reach
- Contribute technical and regional insights to inform project development and program design
- Drive communications and engagement activities to maximise participation in workshops and events
- Maintain accurate, timely records and reporting in Salesforce
- Build carbon farming capability within broader extension and engagement team.
- Identify emerging regional issues and ensure these are communicated to the project team.
About you
You’re passionate about agriculture and enjoy working directly with farmers to make a difference. You’ll bring strong technical expertise and a genuine commitment to supporting dairy communities to adapt and thrive.
You will have:
- Technical expertise in carbon, climate, environment or soils, ideally with agriculture experience
- Experience facilitating and delivering extension or advisory activities to regional teams and farmers
- Strong communication skills – confident, adaptable and able to engage any audience
- Proven ability to build partnerships, networks and influence stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A solid understanding of farming systems, farm business needs and dairy production.
