Job Description
Essential Functions:
Part of the Engineering team, the Grid Code Control Engineer imagine and implement software solutions for power plants and GE gas turbines to be compliant with technical regulations required by Grid service operators and Customers. This work is performed in close collaboration with technical experts (CTH’s) following the Agile methodology that promotes interactions between individuals in a global framework.
- Develop and maintain software libraries owned by Grid controls team allowing Gas Turbines to be compliant with various grid code requirements specified by countries/regions and providing expected frequency response
- Ensure good integration of grid code developments with all Controls facets: software, standards, HMI screens, control panels, automation tools…
- Develop and test specific software using dedicated simulation platform
- Support project fulfilment team with any grid code development and support field issues
- Present and pass technical design reviews with CTH’s, follow CTH’s and other technical experts’ guidance
- Works closely with Gas Turbine Engineering Operability team to clarify requirements and deliverables
- Apply LEAN methodology on tools and processes to continuously improve team overall productivity and quality of deliverables
- Act as per the GE Vernova way in everyday work
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Automation, Electrical, Physics or Mathematics or Significant experience in Gas Turbine controls
- Good understanding of Gas Turbine behavior. Significant experience in Gas Turbine project fulfilment in Controls team (New Unit or CM&U)
- Knowledge of ControlST suite, Cimplicity and Unity/Easy5 (virtual machines)
- Knowledge of basic grid code concepts would be appreciated: Droop, Frequency response, Black Grid Reconstruction, Governor model, GT Islanding, RoCoF (Rate of Change of Frequency)
- A site experience would be a plus
