Duties & Responsibilities
- Inspect, repair, and maintain assets, equipment, and surrounding infrastructure to ensure optimal functionality.
- Assist the Master Fitter with conducting condition monitoring, testing, fault finding, and problem-solving.
- Adhere to planned maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Assume responsibility for quality control in maintenance and new installations within the functional area.
- Support maintenance activities during equipment breakdowns and shutdowns to minimize downtime.
- Inspect all tools, equipment, and vehicles prior to use to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Plan and order necessary parts in advance to avoid production delays due to tool or equipment failure.
- Adhere to and promote all health and safety practices, ensuring compliance with SHEC and technical requirements.
- Transfer knowledge and provide guidance to Artisan Aides and trainees to enhance their skills and competence.
- Report defects and unsafe practices immediately to superiors to maintain a safe working environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical (Essential/Minimum)
- N2 Relevant Trade Subjects (Essential/Minimum)
- Trade: Fitter MQA/QCTO (Essential/Minimum)
- 2-3 years of applicable technical and mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy industry, production or mining environment (Essential/Minimum)
- Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
- Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
- Valid Public Driver's License: Code B (Essential/Minimum)
- Competence in Core MQA Modules Assessments (Essential/Minimum)
- Competence in On the Job MQA Modules Assessment (Essential/Minimum)
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
