Role Purpose/Summary
The Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and leading the overall strategy focusing on China supplier localization, and product costout for Haliad-X. He/she will strategically lead Sourcing functions driving simplification, securing contractual agreements to meets business needs, and execution on activities to optimize cost, capacity, productivity & fulfillment through strategic supplier relationships.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead the development & execution of long-term China sourcing strategies that deliver a competitive advantage for key Purchase Families/Commodities/Subassemblies including implementation of commodities/suppliers initiatives link to capacity, design to cost, modularization and fulfillment.
- Drive sourcing focus to reduce total landed costs by working with the Asia Renewable Sourcing team to leverage commodity synergies and supply chain execution for the Offshore business
- Lead China specific sourcing for buy and Material Cost Reduction target
- Build deep relationships with Strategic Suppliers Relationships driving early supplier engagement into GEV’s New Product Introduction (NPI) or Inquiry To Order (ITO) process, and long-term partnership or local content requirements for wing-to-wing product lifecycle.
- Coordinate with the Renewable Sourcing team the introduction and qualification of supplier’s performance and perform risk management on additional regional suppliers.
- Develop Supplier capacity demand & supply model to drive long term capacity needs.
- Drive a sourcing modularization strategy with strong partners to allow Manufacturing flexibility and bring down the BOM parts assembly to pre assembled modules
- Own the financials / budget tied to operational execution: product cost, Purchase Price variance, Capex/Opex cost… Monitor & improve cost productivity while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality & compliant manner. Work with finance teams to analyze cost drivers, product cost actual/forecast and validate savings/deflations.
- Partner with Commercial, Product, Projects and Engineering teams to develop local suppliers as needed to achieve local content requirements
- Improve supplier qualification process, increase defect detection, and reduce COQ
- Ensure legal, financial and compliance risks are mitigated: Drive 100% compliance to sourcing policy and procedures, supplier approval, competitive bidding, delegation of authority approval…
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Finance
- Minimum of 10 year experience in Sourcing, Operations and/or Supply Chain background
- Excellent business/financial acumen, proficient in leading and setting direction for teams, including demonstrated ability to motivate, influence and drive change at all levels of the organization
- Excellent growth leadership skills demonstrating clear global perspective and understand factors impacting GE offshore businesses and our suppliers
- Influence/communication - establishes good relationships; drives change across functional & global boundaries
