About Commonwealth Fusion Systems:
Commonwealth Fusion Systems is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy.
Combining decades of research, top talent, and new technologies, we’re designing and building commercially viable fusion power plants. And we're working with policymakers and suppliers to build the energy industry of the future.
We’re in the best position to make it happen. Since 2018, we’ve raised nearly $3 billion in capital, making us the largest and leading private fusion company in the world.
Now we’re looking for more thinkers, doers, builders, and makers to join us. People who’ll bring new perspectives, solve tough problems, and thrive as part of a team.
If that’s you and this role fits, we want to hear from you.
Join the power movement as a Quality Assurance Operations Specialist
This position supports the daily execution of core QA processes, including NCRs, DCRM, RCCAs, and inspection data management, while validating system changes in Odoo, Manufacturer, and M-files. Beyond system management, this role acts as a key trainer for engineers and technicians, spearheading continuous improvements to maximize tool usability and efficiency.

What you'll do:
Quality Process & Document Development
- Standardization: Author and standardize quality documentation to align with ISO frameworks and SPARC requirements
- Usability: Focus on improving the accessibility and structure of shop-floor instructions to reduce human error
- Document Control Support: Serve as the high-level administrator for Document Control, supporting the QA team with complex workflows
- Vendor Requirements: Support standardizing quality requirements for external technical documentation to ensure consistency for the Intersquad team
Cross-Functional Integration
- Engineering Liaison: Act as a bridge between Engineering and Production/SASY, ensuring engineering intent is translated into executable, controlled procedures
- Root Cause Support: Provide structured analysis (5-Why, Fishbone) support for root cause investigations (RCCA)
- Feedback Integration: Create a formal process to ensure that insights from RCCA and NCR investigations are used to update training curricula and shop-floor work instructions
- Backfill Capability: Maintain enough cross-functional knowledge to backfill other specialist roles (like Intersquad, Documents or Records) as needed
Training & Competency Framework
- Curriculum Design: Translate technical procedures into deliverable training modules for both Quality and other departments
- Metrics: Establish effectiveness metrics (knowledge checks/competency tracking) rather than just tracking completion
- Onboarding: Support the technical onboarding of new staff to ensure immediate alignment with quality standards
Digital Infrastructure & Tooling
- Validation: Assist in developing software validation and testing plans (DEV/ Sandbox/ UAT) for ERP quality-related modules, M-Files, etc.
- Access & Audit: Manage user roles, access control, and audit trail verifications to ensure data integrity
- Process Automation: Proactively identify opportunities to automate manual quality workflows to reduce "friction"
- Change Management: Support rigorous configuration control and system change management records in collaboration with System Engineering
- Performance Dashboards: Design and maintain digital dashboards (e.g., in Tableau) to provide real-time visibility into process status and training compliance
Quality Governance (Internal Auditing)
- Program Creation: Design periodic auditing programs to ensure accountability in documentation and standards adherence
- Culture Building: Foster a culture of introspection and "external audit readiness" across the cross-functional teams
- Risk Management: Surface unaddressed risks for quality management to act upon before they impact the SPARC schedule
- Closing the Loop: Ensure that every audit finding is linked to a corrective action or a process improvement project to drive tangible changes
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field preferred, though 5+ years of directly relevant professional experience may substitute for the formal education requirement
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS) development or Process Architecture
- Demonstrated experience in managing Non-Conformance (NCR) and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) workflows
- Experience in testing and launching new software tools, including creating step-by-step user testing plans to ensure systems work correctly before they are released to the team
- Proven ability to author and standardize technical quality documentation aligned with ISO frameworks
- Exceptional ability to serve as a bridge between Engineering and Production teams to translate technical intent into executable procedures
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment, in technical, engineering, and information technology groups
- Excellent customer service and training skills with an innate desire to achieve results
- Proficiency in foundational quality assurance concepts, such as internal auditing, document management, Nonconformance management, Root Cause and Corrective Action, etc.
- Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat for advanced document manipulation
- Advanced proficiency in Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) for workflow management
- Experience in testing and launching new software tools, including creating step-by-step user testing plans to ensure systems work correctly before they are released to the team
Bonus points for:
- Experience in building and leading Internal Auditing programs to drive accountability and risk management
- Background in Training Curriculum Design, including creating effectiveness metrics and competency-based tracking
- Familiarity with construction projects or similar complex energy/ engineering projects
- Regulatory experience with QMS standards, such as Energy, Aerospace, Medical, Automotive, etc.
- Knowledge of basic systems requirements for M-Files administration
- Expertise in Root Cause Analysis methodologies (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone)
- Ability to identify and implement process automation opportunities to reduce operational "friction"
Must-have requirements:
- Perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
- Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally
- Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
