Job Description:
An established and fast-paced trading business is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join its provisions department. This role is suited to a commercially strong individual with solid FMCG exposure who thrives in a high-pressure, high-volume environment.
Available to start early May
Key Responsibilities:
- Sourcing and purchasing a wide range of FMCG products
- Compiling and issuing accurate quotations to clients
- Negotiating pricing and terms with suppliers
- Placing and tracking orders to ensure timely delivery
- Managing supplier relationships and maintaining product availability
- Processing customer and supplier invoices
- Monitoring margins and ensuring profitability on transactions
- Handling foreign currency pricing and exchange rate calculations (where applicable)
- Working closely with accounts and operations to ensure smooth order fulfilment
Minimum Requirements:
- Proven experience in a senior buying role within FMCG, wholesale, trading or a similar fast-moving environment
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including basic formulas and calculations)
- Ability to manage high volumes of orders and work accurately under pressure
- Experience working on an accounting system (Pastel 14 advantageous)
- Solid understanding of product ranges and supplier management
- Knowledge of foreign currency transactions/exchange rate calculations advantageous
