The Tara Group is run by a professional board on behalf of the Sweeney family and includes three operational businesses; Chasetown Civil Engineering Ltd, Cameron Homes, and Keon Homes plus two legal entities; Cameron Estate Management and Tara Developments, the Holding Company. The combined turnover for Tara Developments in 2025 was circa £230m, with strong growth plans over the next 5 years.

The role:
This role is required to support the success and continual improvement of Tara Group. Key responsibilities:
- Assist Chasetown Civil Engineering, Cameron Homes & Keon Homes with risk identification, risk mitigation and the development of safe systems of work across our operations.
- Identify and communicate project specific risks & site constraints to the delivery team prior to the construction phase.
- Assist with near miss identification, incident investigation, follow up and lessons learnt.
- Assist the HS&E Ops Manager & Director with ensuring that HS&E processes and guidance reflect changes in legislation.
- Deliver assurance activity to understand any gaps or weaknesses in approach and to support continual improvement.
- Helping to identify HS&E competence requirements and associated training needs and supporting with this delivery.
- Support with the planning and organising of assurance activities across the different areas of risk and statutory compliance.
- Support with the arrangement, preparation and facilitation of external audits relating to HS&E risk management and ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001 certifications, and the associated audit actions and follow-ups.
- Proactively address and challenge poor HS&E performance at all levels
- Support with the implementation of the Tara HS&E Plan and associated objectives.
- Support with the central recording and managing of near miss, accident and incident data and related investigations.
- Support with the implementation of any HS&E communications/ alerts across the group.
- Organise and manage HS&E training courses & briefing sessions within the group.
- Be a representative & ambassador for the HS&E team and provide secondary assistance to the Group HS&E Ops Manager.
Knowledge and Experience
- A good working knowledge of health, safety and environmental risk management practices with sound experience of undertaking risk assessments, Construction phase plans, designing and implementing safe systems or work and knowledge of competence frameworks – preferably within a higher risk environment such as Civil engineering, Groundworks & Main contracting
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent is desirable but not essential if other training routes and experience can demonstrate competence for this role.
- Ability to communicate with site teams effectively and challenge mindsets where required.
- Experience delivering effective HS&E briefings in different environments (on site and classroom)
- Experience in accident/ incident investigation and the ability to identify immediate & root causes
- Experience in undertaking assurance activity (such as formal inspection, auditing and support style visits).
- Some knowledge of the IS0 9001, 45001 and ISO14001 standards would be advantageous.
- Some working knowledge of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations would be beneficial.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Outstanding communication and people skills, the ability to lead others and enable them to provide best in class HS&E standards.
- Being able to encourage conversation and collaboration amongst peers and across the group at all levels.
- Organised to support with the Tara HS&E Plan and ambitions.
- Great IT skills to be able to support the ongoing development of the HS&E Framework and associated digital tools.
