Role Summary
Rowan Digital Infrastructure is looking for an Environmental Compliance Lead to lead and manage environmental compliance during construction and operations of data center developments within North America.
The successful candidate will have technical expertise on relevant environmental regulations, and proven communication, organization, and program management skills required for the position.
Travel: Ability to travel up to 30% to project sites
Location: Denver, CO (hybrid in-office role)
Compensation: $150 - $185K (Offers Bonus)
Essential Responsibilities
Lead environmental compliance from construction through operations, including brownfield development requirements (e.g., soil or groundwater management), air permitting and notifications, biological surveys, stormwater management, fuel management, spill prevention control and countermeasures (SPCC), and emergency planning and community right-to-know (EPCRA)
Prepare, submit, and/or complete technical reviews of reports and notifications to federal, state, and local government agencies
Interpret and communicate technical environmental requirements and act as a subject matter expert when coordinating key initiatives with external partners (general contractors), consultants, and internal partners (e.g., environmental health and safety, facility personnel, legal) and other stakeholders
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to conduct environmental incident investigations, including identifying corrective actions and compliance requirements, and conducting root cause analyses
Develop and implement training and educational tools to support construction and operations teams in meeting regulatory obligations and permit requirements.
Conduct compliance assessments and site visits, and communicate findings and solutions
Develop and meet quantitative goals for environmental compliance
Education, Skills, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, planning, or other related field
6+ years of experience in environmental compliance, ideally including both construction and operational phases of projects
Experience in environmental incident management and regulatory agency engagement
Experience effectively managing multiple projects and coordinating with internal staff, external consultants, vendors, construction contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and highly cross-functional environment
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
