Position Overview:

The Seattle Aquarium, a leading marine conservation organization, is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Information Technology (IT) Manager to lead the strategic and operational IT functions that support our growing organization. This role will oversee technology infrastructure, manage IT staff and vendors, and ensure the secure and efficient operation of all information systems. Candidates should bring a balance of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for supporting conservation and education through innovative technology solutions.

Essential Functions:

Technology Strategy & Leadership

Develop and implement an IT roadmap aligned with the Aquarium’s strategic goals.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend upgrades to improve operational efficiency and guest experience.
Lead IT governance, planning, budgeting and policy development.
Provide guidance, coaching, and support for IT team members, including identifying opportunities for professional development.

Systems & Infrastructure Management

Oversee the operation and security of all IT infrastructure, including servers, network hardware, endpoints and cloud services.
Manage system performance, backups, disaster recovery planning and cybersecurity protocols.
Support ticketing, point-of-sale (POS),animal records, life support systems, CRM, finance and other enterprise systems.

User Support & Training

Ensure high-quality technical support for Aquarium staff.
Develop and deliver training on IT systems and security best practices.
Maintain documentation for systems, processes and support protocols.

Vendor & Project Management

Coordinate with third-party IT providers, consultants and vendors.
Lead IT projects, including system migrations, software rollouts and infrastructure upgrades.
Monitor service level agreements and vendor performance.

Compliance & Security

Ensure compliance with data privacy laws, PCI standards and other applicable regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
Maintain an up-to-date incident response and cybersecurity plan.

People First Leadership

Team Supervision: Lead a diverse team of up to 15 full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees. Engage, support and supervise team of staff and volunteers. Foster an environment that supports mentoring, training, team management, and well-being within a framework of mutual respect and reciprocity.
Conflict Management: Manage conflict and communication challenges through a proactive culturally sensitive and intersectional lens, between staff, volunteers, and partners.
Change Management: Guide the team through programmatic and operational change, providing guidance and steady leadership.

Follows all Seattle Aquarium policies and procedures.
Performs relevant special duties or other projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

5+ years of experience in IT systems management or related technical roles in a professional environment.
Strong knowledge of project management, network administration, cloud services (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS), and enterprise systems.
Experience managing IT teams and external vendors.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Passion for the mission of the Seattle Aquarium and a commitment to supporting a sustainable and educational environment.

Working Conditions:

Full-time, regular office hours (Monday to Friday) with the eligibility for up to two work-from-home days a week after three months of employment.
Participate in anon-call rotation for after-hours support.
Occasional evening or weekend work for system maintenance or special events.
Duties of this role may involve periods of sitting or standing.
To participate in a work-from-home setting, employees need reliable internet connectivity in their remote workspace.

Salary and benefits: $125,000- $130,000 Dependent on experience. Please include salary expectations in your application materials.
