Summary
This position is located at Devils Postpile National Monument in Mammoth Lakes, California. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately mid-January to late-December. Non-pay expected for 2 weeks / 1 pay period for the first year of employment.
Major Duties
This position is responsible for providing facility management for a small National Park Service unit with limited infrastructure and resource complexity. The Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist supports an organization of facilities and equipment through the supervision of subordinate staff, multi-year project budgets, and the utilization of information technologies. These duties provide stewardship of assets/facilities ensuring visitor use and enjoyment as well as the protection of natural and cultural resources. As a Supervisory Facilities Operations Specialist, you will: Serve as COR on assigned projects. Direct field programs and activities to facilitate accomplishment of established park goals and objectives. Provide technical assistance in preparation of contract documents for the preservation and maintenance of roads, trails, grounds, structures, and facilities. Develop annual work plans, schedule maintenance and operational activities for the Maintenance Division at your unit. Provide basic information for budget preparation and monitor expenditures. Facilitate program accomplishments, monitor program and ensure that required controls and accountability are maintained. Ensure operational compliance with NPS guidelines, state and federal regulations concerning, NEPA, Section 106, hazardous wastes, material handling and storage, building codes etc., and accomplishments are performed to acceptable safety standards and trade practices. Actively participate in the park safety goals, present tailgate talks, and prepare and be familiar with relevant Job Hazard Analysis (JHA); plans for the mitigation of any safety hazards that are encountered. Supervise and direct subordinate staff in various trades, craft and laboring positions; provide technical advice and input for the construction, rehabilitation, modification and maintenance of facilities/assets.
