About This Role:
The Inventory Lead is a critical, hands-on role responsible for overseeing the integrity and efficiency of all inventory control operations at the facility. You will be the subject matter expert for inventory best practices, responsible for maintaining optimal inventory levels, managing materials within the ERP/WMS system, and ensuring production always has timely, accurate access to materials. This position is crucial for reducing variances, ensuring smooth production, and coordinating daily cycle counting activities. The ideal candidate has deep experience in inventory control within a manufacturing environment and a proven ability to mentor peers and lead process improvements. This is a full-time position.
What You’ll Be Working On:
Inventory Control Leadership & Quality Assurance: Lead the daily cycle counting process, delegating tasks and providing oversight to maintain inventory accuracy and minimize variances. You will be the primary resource for investigating and performing root cause analysis on major inventory discrepancies.
WMS/ERP System Integrity: Act as the department's power user for the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ERP, ensuring the physical movement of all inventory (receipts, transfers, kitting) is transacted accurately and promptly within the system. You will oversee documentation compliance (i.e., material requisition).
Production Floor Coordination & Support: Coordinate and prioritize the kitting of jobs, ensuring all parts are pulled, unboxed, grouped, and delivered to the production floor to maximize production efficiency. You will act as the key communication link between inventory and production.
Annual Planning & Optimization: Play a primary role in planning and executing the full annual physical inventory. You will also assist with strategic management and disposal of surplus materials and scrap.
Process Documentation & Training: Identify process gaps within inventory transactions and control and propose solutions. You will be responsible for training peers and new hires on inventory best practices, ERP procedures, and compliance standards.
General Warehouse Assistance: Provide expert assistance to the warehouse where needed, including specialized support for receiving, unloading trucks, and maintaining the highest standard of lot cleanliness and organization.
Safety, Equipment, and Process Improvement: Serve as the safety lead for the material handling area, enforcing adherence to safety protocols, proper lifting techniques, and equipment operation procedures (forklifts, cranes). Train and certify new team members on the safe and effective operation of forklifts and signaling overhead crane operators. Actively identify, recommend, and implement process efficiencies within the material flow, applying best practices to improve throughput.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
Advanced Inventory Control Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience in inventory control, materials management, or a specialized manufacturing environment, demonstrating expertise in cycle counting, variance minimization, and root cause analysis.
ERP/WMS System Expertise: Proven proficiency and a deep working knowledge of MRP/ERP and WMS systems for tracking and transacting materials.
Technical and Documentation Rigor: Proven ability to meticulously read, interpret, and double-check complex Bills of Materials (BOMs) for multiple projects, ensuring 100% kitting accuracy.
Physical Requirements: Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting, lowering, pushing, and pulling materials, and performing physical tasks necessary to support production.
Safety Leadership & Compliance: Commitment to acting as a safety leader, ensuring strict compliance with all safety protocols. This position is designated a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required. Must be able to pass a background check.
