DescriptionThe Senior Environmental Specialist supports WSP Italy Sustainability Services by providing technical leadership on environmental and environmental & social assignments. The role contributes to international and multi-disciplinary projects, acting as a senior technical reference for Environmental and Social Impact Assessment and Due Diligence activities in line with international lender standards
ResponsibilitiesLead environmental components of Environmental, Social and Health Impact Assessments (ESHIA), including baseline studies, impact assessment and management measures
Act as Senior Environmental Specialist on Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD), ESMS and post-finance monitoring assignments
Identify environmental and social risks and impacts, defining mitigation measures and corrective action plans in line with international standards
Prepare and review Environmental and Social Management Plans and monitoring frameworks
Provide technical advisory support to lender-financed projects and ESIA compliance reviews
Prepare and review high-quality technical reports and contribute to proposals and tender documentation
Coordinate with Project Managers and collaborate with WSP international environmental and ESG teams
Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to knowledge sharing within the team
QualificationsMaster’s degree (or PhD) in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geology or related disciplines
Minimum 8 years of post-graduate experience in environmental and social consultancy, preferably in an international context
Proven experience on projects in developing countries, ideally within a consultancy environment
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of International Environmental and Social Standards (World Bank, IFC, EBRD, ADB, AfDB, OECD, Equator Principles)
Previous experience in development of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, Environmental and Social Management Systems EHS Due Diligence
Environmental modelling tools (air, noise, water) and GIS applications (desirable)
