DBN000238 - GENERAL MANAGER (ENVIRONMENTAL) - BALLITO

Purpose of the Job:
To serve as the operational and commercial leader for our client who is in the Environmental Sector.

Required Qualifications:

5–10 years of increasing management experience in the sustainability, recycling, waste management, environmental, or similar regulated fields.
Demonstrated expertise dealing with DFFE or comparable authorities in the South African environmental regulatory environment.
Strong knowledge of recycling value chains, environmental compliance, and waste management systems.
Expertise overseeing contractors, service providers, or intricate supply systems.
A Degree in sustainability, engineering, environmental science, or a similar field is necessary.
While not necessary, a postgraduate degree (such as an MBA, Honors degree, or comparable) is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Competencies & Experience:

Encourage cross-stream synergies to improve overall impact, operational consistency, and cost effectiveness.
Act as the main negotiator and external representation for important stakeholders.
Determine, evaluate, and reduce risks related to operations, finances, regulations, and reputation.
Oversee, coach, and grow the operational leadership group while promoting a culture of responsibility, excellence, and ongoing development.
Senior managers and important functional leads should have direct line management.
Create and oversee a structured operational schedule that includes performance check-ins, operational reviews, and weekly management meetings.
