About the Role
As an Assistant Inspector Environment within NSW Resources, you will support the effective regulation of exploration and mining activities across NSW while helping protect the environment and community interests. Working as part of the Mining Act Inspectorate, you will assist inspectors with site and desktop assessments, participate in inspection and audit programs, and contribute to projects that strengthen regulatory outcomes and support safe and sustainable resource development.
In this role you will help deliver compliance and assessment activities under the Mining Act 1992, maintain accurate operational records, and provide practical support to regulatory programs. The position offers valuable exposure to field and regulatory work while contributing to responsible exploration and mining practices that support the long-term prosperity of regional NSW.
About You
We are seeking a motivated and detail focused individual who is eager to contribute to environmental oversight within the mining and exploration sector. You will bring a collaborative mindset, strong organisational skills, and the ability to support inspection and assessment activities while working closely with inspectors and stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will have the following:
- Experience providing inspection, assessment, operational or technical support in a regulatory, environmental, or related setting
- Knowledge or understanding of government planning, exploration, mining, or environmental policies and legislation
- Strong organisational and record keeping skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients
- Sound judgement, professionalism, and the ability to identify and escalate sensitive matters when required
Essential Requirements
- Hold and maintain a current Class C driver licence
- Compliance with pre-employment probity screening is mandatory and a condition of engagement
- Compliance with the Resources Regulator Pecuniary Interests in the Regulated Sector policy is mandatory
- Appointment and ongoing assignment are subject to satisfactory participation in ongoing health screening
