Role Description:
Arcadis seeks a Senior Environmental Specialist to join our team in California.
The Senior Environmental Specialist supports construction and infrastructure projects by ensuring compliance with applicable environmental regulations, permits, and commitments. This role involves monitoring environmental performance on active project sites, coordinating with contractors and project teams, and providing technical guidance and training related to environmental compliance and sustainability practices.
Role Accountabilities:
- Participate in monitoring contractor compliance with environmental regulations, permit conditions, project environmental commitments, and applicable standards.
- Conduct site inspections and document environmental compliance during construction activities.
- Provide environmental training and guidance to project teams, contractors, and field personnel on regulatory requirements and best management practices.
- Prepare environmental reports, documentation, and recommendations related to site compliance and environmental performance.
- Develop, maintain, and implement environmental compliance trackers and monitoring logs.
- Coordinate closely with project personnel, Metro on-call subcontractors, and project contractors to ensure environmental requirements are understood and implemented.
- Support environmental permitting compliance and documentation during construction activities.
- Assist with monitoring and reporting related to mitigation plans and environmental commitments.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Approximately five (5) years of experience in construction environmental compliance or environmental consulting.
- Experience with subsurface investigations, construction SWPPP BMPs, NPDES permitting, dewatering activities, and environmental compliance monitoring.
Key Skills and Attributes:
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations applicable to construction projects.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills to maintain environmental trackers, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Ability to perform fieldwork and site inspections in active construction environments.
- Willingness to obtain environmental certifications not currently held.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with administration of CWA 401/404/408 and CDFW 1602 permits, preparation of NEPA/CEQA memos, and construction management. Sustainability (Title 24, CalGREEN, and LEED) experience preferred.
- QSD, QSP, and/or ENV-SP certifications preferred, but not required.

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $195,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
