Position Overview
The Environmental Technician is an entry level position in the insurance/disaster restoration industry that is responsible for performing and following duties assigned by supervisor per business needs during environmental abatement projects, including asbestos, lead, mold, and biohazards. You will be regularly exposed to the previously mentioned hazardous materials, occasionally working near mechanical equipment, as well as be exposed to indoor and outdoor temperature fluctuations caused by equipment or weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Execution
- Learn and perform advanced abatement tasks, including the removal and reapplication of insulating materials.
- Learn and ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, and relevant state regulations.
- Manage and regulate Negative Pressure Enclosures and authorized access.
- Safety and Regulatory Compliance
- Follow all safety precautions and procedures to control regulated areas and prevent cross-contamination.
- Complete and maintain regulatory records and documentation for NEA's (Negative Exposure Assessments).
- Equipment
- Must be able to pass respirator fit test
- Wear respiratory protection as demanded by each project for up to 12hr shifts
- Maintain respiratory equipment, monitoring devices, HEPA vacuums, and other related equipment.
- Ensure vehicles and supplies are fully stocked, safe, in working condition, and prepared for daily working conditions
- Building containment, setting up and maintaining equipment
- Using various tools for abatement purposes: scrapers, hammers, power tools, knives, shovels, etc.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Conduct and document air monitoring from pre-abatement to final clearances.
- Complete required paperwork and update project information in the database.
- Interface with customers and relay information to management as appropriate.
- Waste Management and Material Application
- Follow hazardous waste disposal procedures and documentation.
- Apply new environmentally safe materials post-abatement.
- Physical Requirements and Additional Responsibilities
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in extreme conditions.
- Participate in an on-call schedule for after-hours service calls.
- Maintain a clean driving record and pass background checks.

Required Education and Experience
- Entry Level position for Environmental Abatement
- Ability to travel out of town as job requires
- Asbestos or Lead Abatement experience preferred
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current valid driver's license.
- U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien status, or authorization to work in the U.S.
