Job Title – Senior Specialist II, EHS

Job Summary:
Serve as Site EHS leader to develop, implement and enforce EHS system and ensure employee safety, facility operation success and inspection/audit compliance from environmental, health and safety perspective for biopharmaceutical clinical manufacturing and development site at Cranbury, NJ.
Responsibilities:
- General safety advocate for the facility, ensuring all that the enter the facility understand the safety issues at the site, as they vary in time, and stock the facility with appropriate safety gear and phone numbers for support should an event occur.
- Interface with all site employees, construction projects and collaborate with other WuXi EHS leaders to ensure the site has developed to meet the latest standards and requirements in all aspects of EHS against federal and State EHS policy and law.
- SME on technical issues in the areas of biosafety, industrial hygiene, and occupational safety, and assist in hazard identification, hazard evaluation, and the development of controls appropriate to the work being performed.This includes supporting facility design, being responsible for EHS related permitting application and maintaining the site safety hazard lists, knowledge and expertise of: biological, chemical, physical, safety, ergonomic and psychosocial hazards.
- Be the repository of the MSDS’ (material safety data sheet) for the site. Interface with local and federal government officials in all areas of expertise, including Chemical Sector Security and specialty substance tracking.
- Design, set up and optimize EHS management system. Establish and implement EHS SOPs and procedures.
- Develop and enforce organization environment, safety and health programs in compliance with all relevant local, state and Federal regulations and guidelines and industry best practices. Examples of programs include COVID 19 safety, Lockout / Tagout, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space Identify potential lab and manufacturing operation risks and facilitate the operation process to eliminate or minimize the safety risks to employees and the impact on the facility operations.
- Be responsible to respond to hazardous material emergencies, and EHS incident/near miss investigation and follow up CAPA. Build employee training and emergency preparedness programs. Conduct employee safety training.
- Responsible for client and external EHS agencies’ inspection and ensure compliance criteria met and any corrective actions are fully implemented. Be able to understand and articulate the business drivers aligned with safety strategy
- Identify and report any potential lab and manufacturing operation risks and support solution development to eliminate or minimize the safety risks to employees and the impact on the facility operations.
- Understand and have experience with incident management systms including Root Cause Analysis, Investigation and follow up CAPA.
- Manage, monitor and provide employee training and assist with client/external EHS agencies’ inspection.
- Perform or support I.H related functions including but not limited to: exposure control monitoring, IAQ issues, ergonomics concerns,

Qualifications:
- Minimally Bachelor degree in science discipline or 7 years of work experience in related fields. (Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene is preferred).
- Working experience in safety and EHS field of Biotech and Biopharmacurtical industry environment is perfered.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DEP, NFPA codes and regulations ir required.
- Work experience with waste management, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, risk management, incident investigation, confined space and lockout tagout required.
- Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills with dynamic cross function teams.
- Must work in a self-motivated, multiple tasks, highly flexible, well-organized and detailed-oriented style.
- Proficient skills using MS Office products, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Must be able to work in Lab setting with Biohazards /various Chemicals
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
- Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
- Ability to stand /Sit/walk for long periods of time
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds
Salary range for this position is 80k-128k
