Introduction

Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this Part-Time Environmental Engineering position. This position is a contract opportunity which is expected to be on-site in Anaheim, CA for a duration of 10 Months. Work Schedule is 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The team is flexible; however, this resource will be working on a part-time basis of 16 hours per week.

Environmental Engineer - P1 (Hazardous Waste)

In this dynamic role, the Engineer supports the program implementation for the nonhazardous and regulated waste programs. Routine work includes regulatory review and feedback, TSDF audits, maintaining waste profiles, preparing reports for government agencies, and developing internal standards and communication pieces. You will have an advanced understanding of the federal, state, and local solid waste regulatory frameworks and expertise working with internal partners and regulating agencies.

Hazardous Waste:

Review and provide input on DTSC, EPA, and DOT regulatory changes
Internal compliance inspections (weekly, monthly)
Support end-point disposal facilities (e.g., desk audits of TSDFs)
Create and maintain hazardous waste profiles
Coordinate or provide Hazardous Waste Handler training to employees
Review sampling data to make waste determinations
Create and sign manifests
Coordination with construction project disposal needs
Nonhazardous Waste
Review and provide input on CalRecycle regulatory changes
Compliance reporting & data management
Create and maintain nonhazardous waste profiles
Coordination with construction project disposal needs
Program Support
Create and maintain internal communication pieces (e.g., Team Talks)

Details:

Required:

0-2 years of work experience managing hazardous and other regulated waste compliance programs in California
Demonstrated ability to lead a field team
Experience with environmental sampling and analysis procedures
Experience with the chemistry of hazardous materials
Experience working with regional, state, and federal agencies
Strong communication skills and ability to work with partners of all levels

Preferred:

2+ years in hazardous waste, solid waste, and recycling compliance programs
Proven experience in environmental compliance
Organizational skills to manage multiple project deliverables
Understanding of Cal Recycle regulatory programs
Understanding of DTSC regulatory programs
Understanding of the California Medical Waste Management Act
Understanding of DOT/PHMSA requirements for the transportation of hazardous materials
Possession of, or ability to obtain, CHMM or CHMP

Education:

B.S. Engineering (Prefer Civil or Chemical)

Preferred:

Master's degree in a science, engineering, or related
