Role Overview
The Senior Environmental Consultant manages medium‑to‑large environmental and planning projects across NSW, ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard. The role provides strong technical and planning advice, coordinates project delivery, and manages day‑to‑day workflows. Seniors support Element’s growth by maintaining client relationships, contributing to proposals, and representing Element professionally. Internally, they guide and develop consultants, delegate effectively, and help build a positive, solutions‑focused team culture.
Project Management
Manage planning approvals including EISs, SSDs, DAs, REFs, EMPs, and Modifications.
Coordinate end‑to‑end project delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
Delegate work appropriately to consultants and provide clear direction and oversight.
Identify project risks early and develop practical, workable solutions.
Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all project outputs.
Clients & Stakeholder Engagement
Maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, and industry partners.
Provide clear, reliable communication and deliver an exceptional client experience.
Identify opportunities for repeat work through excellent service and proactive engagement.
Support meetings, presentations, and discussions that progress project outcomes.
Business Development
Contribute to proposals, fee estimates, and pursuit planning.
Identify opportunities with current and prospective clients.
Support activities that promote Element’s capability and reputation.
People & Management
Provide day‑to‑day guidance, support, and feedback to consultants.
Delegate tasks effectively and ensure consultants are set up for success.
Support onboarding, training, and capability development.
Model Element’s values and contribute to a positive team culture.
Technical / Experiential Criteria
Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Engineering, or similar.
5–10 years’ experience delivering environmental assessments and planning projects within NSW.
Proven consulting experience.
Strong writing, communication, and project management capability.
Ability to manage medium‑scale projects independently.
Proficient in Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
