POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Hand will be working at the Hickson, Ontario processing plant. The successful candidate will be required to work a day shift, Monday to Friday, rotating shifts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing leadership and direction to the operations staff on the Day, afternoon and night shifts
- Maintaining optimal production levels and notifying the Operations Supervisor and Plant Manager of equipment breakdowns or operating irregularities
- Review and comment on daily operations and quality KPIs for afternoon and night shift operations - Develop and maintain a positive work environment using interpersonal skills, team building and open communication
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure Health & Safety policies are observed
- Conduct safety-related tasks on back shifts
- Provide safety training for employees on back shifts - Help develop SOPs and ensure they are understood and followed
- Be flexible and hands-on when required for technical or production tasks - Provide daily relief for operators for lunches - Complete finished goods quality testing - Environmental monitoring and sampling
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in manufacturing/operations
- Mechanical aptitude an asset - Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations - Strong interpersonal, leadership and coaching skills
- Decision-making using sound judgment and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Results-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have the ability to lift, push and pull between 50+ pounds
- Bending, twisting, pushing/pulling, leaning, climbing, extended hours of walking and/or standing
