Special Events Coordinator (Part- Time)

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium is currently seeking a Part-Time Special Events Coordinator to join the Communications Department. This position works directly with the Director of PR and Communications Events on a variety of projects, which includes our attendance-driving, family–friendly events, as well as some public relations and marketing opportunities relative to the organization and specific events.
The ideal candidate is committed to advancing the Zoo’s mission through event experiences and ensuring the coordination of event logistics meets quality and brand expectations. They will be responsible for pre-event planning and day-of event logistics. Day-of tasks include setup, on site coordination between vendors, entertainers and internal departments, as well as teardown, while working within defined timelines.
This opportunity is an hourly position, with approximately 15-25 hours per week. Duration is flexible but ideally May-December.
This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over forty (40) in a work week.
Minimum Training & Qualifications:
- Previous event planning, marketing and/or customer service experience is preferred.
- Must have strong computer, organizational, writing and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of the Toledo Zoo & Aquarium, our social media platforms, along with our events and programs, is a plus.
- Must have the ability to transport and move items 25+ pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to work in all kinds of weather conditions including cold and hot temperatures, snow, rain and humidity.

- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
