What You'll be Doing
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date health, environment, and safety compliance records and documentation.
Act as the primary point of contact for EHS inquiries within your region.
Write, revise, proofread, and maintain company health and safety policies and procedures.
Enter incident and accident data, track follow-ups, and support investigations and root cause analysis.
Lead or support incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions.
Maintain, update, and audit safety training records to ensure compliance.
Assist with the preparation of safety documentation and onboarding materials for new team members.
Manage documentation related to Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), including updates and manifests.
Support and promote safety initiatives that encourage a proactive and engaged safety culture.
Coordinate and participate in Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and ensure committee effectiveness.
Assist with branch safety audits, identify deficiencies, and track corrective actions.
Support Workers’ Compensation claims management and assist in coordinating return-to-work programs.
Assist with the COR audit process within the region.
Stay current on evolving health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
Conduct inspections of fall protection equipment.
What You'll Bring to the Team
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of health and safety experience, ideally within construction, industrial, or related environments.
Bilingualism (French / English) is an asset.
Post-secondary diploma in Environment, Health & Safety Management or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Valid Class G driver’s license required, with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points). You’ll be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
Strong knowledge of construction-related safety regulations and industry best practices.
Experience supporting or participating in COR programs; COR Internal Auditor certification is considered an asset.
Experience with provincial workers’ compensation reporting and claims management.
Professional designation such as CRSP or NCSO is an asset.
Train-the-Trainer certification is considered an asset (or willingness to obtain).
Demonstrated ability to conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety audits.
Knowledge of safety considerations related to trenching, pump and power equipment, climate control systems, and/or propane/LPG is an asset
Ability and willingness to travel regularly between Ottawa branches, with occasional travel to Montreal and Quebec locations (1–2 times per month).
Willingness to complete harness inspection training.
