Senior Policy Officer Planning & Environment
About the role
The Senior Policy Officer Planning & Environment works closely with the General Manager Planning
& Environment to lead policy development and advocacy that supports efficient, environmentally responsible and timely deployment of clean energy projects across Australia.
The role engages extensively with members, governments, regulators and industry stakeholders to shape planning, environmental and regulatory frameworks that enable renewable energy, storage and transmission infrastructure. The position provides authoritative policy advice, undertakes high-level research and analysis, and supports the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aligned with organisational priorities.
This is a full-time, permanent position working 76 hours per fortnight (1 FTE). Salary for this role is $130K – $140K plus super, based on experience.
About you
We’re looking for someone who:
- Demonstrated experience in planning, environmental, infrastructure or energy policy development.
- Strong understanding of Australian
planning and environmental approval systems (state and Commonwealth), including
environmental impact assessment and land access frameworks.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to interpret complex legislation and regulatory processes.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of submissions and executive-level briefings.
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and influence policy outcomes.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to align policy reform with long-term clean energy transition objectives.
- Strong organisational skills and experience managing multiple priorities in a dynamic policy environment.
- Knowledge of OHS and Modern Slavery policy environment and laws would be beneficial.
