The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) is a leading industry organization dedicated to the overall planning, development, marketing, and management of the commercial port facilities within the Port of Prince Rupert.
PRPA is seeking two (2) motivated, eager-to-learn environmental sustainability students to join the team and contribute to ongoing projects and initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, and enhance career prospects. Please note that one position is full-time, and the other position is part-time.
Summer student employment is for four months, commencing May 4, 2026, and ending August 28, 2026, unless otherwise specified.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assist in various environmental stewardship programs such as:
- Monitoring and sampling programs with work conducted on a vessel.
- Data collection, reporting, and research.
- Other tasks as required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Enrolled in an undergraduate program in science, ecology, or marine studies.
- Good writing and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is an asset.
- Work will be split between an office environment and fieldwork.
- Must be able to lift items up to 25 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours/day, with a 1-hour lunch break (unpaid).
- Part-time position: 20 hours per week and requires flexibility with scheduling to meet the needs of the team.
- Work will be both in the field, working on vessels and in an office environment.
- This position may require occasional irregular work hours.
The hourly rate for PRPA’s Summer Student position is $29.00.
