Major Duties
Prepare and monitor an annual operating budget for maintenance and facility operation. Supervise carpentry trade worker(s) in the construction, alteration, modification or repair of a wide range of features in buildings. Supervises plumbers tasked with installation, modification and repair of new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and showers. Supervises HVAC operational, maintenance and construction activities. Ensures staff perform scheduled preventative maintenance work on HVAC equipment. Oversees the placement of finishes on a variety of interior and exterior surfaces of offices, buildings, other structures, and equipment. Supervises all painting, varnishing, etc. functions to include marbling, graining, speckling, tinting, and toning of paint, and matching existing colors. Supervisory tasks include, but not limited to, hiring subordinates, establishing performance plans and standards, employee counseling and personnel actions, distribution of workload, quality control inspections, time keeping, completing requests for leave and completing Department of the Interior mandated training. Denali National Park: Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately February to November, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year. This can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.
