Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of journey-level carpentry trade work needed to construct, alter, maintain, and repair wooden buildings, structures, cabins, ships, boats, docks, boardwalks, bridges, floors, decks, handrails, fences, signs, partitions, panels, and other items made of wood, wood substitutes or composite building materials. As a senior Carpenter, the incumbent performs trade work and provides expertise and/or training to lower-level trade positions
Major Duties
Work involves the construction, alteration, installation, repair and modification of items and structures such as framework, rafters, concrete forms, walls, doors, finished paneling, window frames, interior and exterior trims, staircases, trusses, beams, and miscellaneous items such as workbenches, counter tops, bookcases, equipment cabinets, and computer consoles where accuracy, spacing and fit are essential and structural soundness and appearance are important. Knowledge and ability to read and interpret blueprints. This is an open continuous announcement, in which applications are collected over several months, and have multiple cut-off dates.
