Lead Environmental & ESG Engineer

Role Purpose:
The Lead Environmental & ESG Engineer is responsible for leading all environmental and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) activities to support the Tangkulo development project. The role ensures full compliance with environmental regulations, oversees the preparation and submission of environmental documentation, and secures all required approvals from regulatory agencies. The position provides technical and strategic guidance on ESG matters, supporting project sustainability objectives and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead the preparation, review, and submission of all required environmental documentation, such as Sea space permit, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental Management Plans (EMP), environmental technical approval and other statutory reports as mandated by Indonesia regulations.
- Coordinate closely with regulatory bodies to facilitate timely approvals and ensure all documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and aligns with project milestones.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams to ensure all supporting documents meet both internal standards and external regulatory expectations.
- Oversee the implementation of the project's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies in accordance with both company policies and recognized global frameworks, such as IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles.
- Monitor ESG performance indicators and ensure all project activities are aligned with sustainability objectives, including stakeholder engagement and transparent reporting.
- Lead audits and self-assessments to identify gaps and drive continuous improvement in ESG performance.
- Ensure all engineering designs and project development activities comply with relevant environmental standards, codes, and best practices
- Provide subject matter expertise during design reviews to proactively identify potential environmental risks and propose mitigation measures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate environmental considerations into project planning, construction, and operational phases to achieve optimal environmental performance.
Qualifications include but are not limited to the following:
Education:
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
- Significant experience (minimum of 8 years) in environmental management, permitting, and ESG roles within the oil and gas sector, preferably with exposure to Indonesian regulatory environments.
- Proven track record of leading environmental and ESG activities for large-scale projects.
Skills:
- Knowledge
- Strong technical knowledge of environmental regulations, standards, and best practices in the oil and gas industry.
- Understanding of ESG frameworks and their application in major development projects.
- Soft & Hard Skills
- Fluent in English, oral and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage interfaces with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in preparing technical documents and presenting complex information clearly.
