Job Summary:
Hydro Maintenance Mechanic position will be filled as an A, B, C or D based on qualifications and experience. The individual in this position is responsible for performing tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the plant and all related equipment and facilities. The individual in this position is expected to respond to call outs on an as needed basis.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The following list sets forth the principal duties required for the job at all levels. This list is not intended to limit assignment of work or the degree of supervision under all operating conditions. Employee may perform miscellaneous, related, and incidental work in addition to that specifically outlined below.
Qualify in and maintain qualifications for performing general plant operations to include: Starting and stopping the Hydro Units, performing daily walkdowns and plant readings, completing daily paperwork as required.
Qualifications - Hydro Mechanic D
The "D" Mechanic spends much of the grade becoming oriented to a Hydro plant. It is a learning stage where often the equipment and tools are new to the individual. They must perform duties as a helper to "C", "B", and "A" mechanics, as well as learn Company rules and procedures related to Job Safety, Environmental Protection, Operations, Basic Skills and Maintenance of hydro power plant structures and equipment. Skills and job knowledge will be developed through training resources such as classrooms, videos, computers, and on the job demonstrations.

Utilize a working knowledge of basic measuring tools such as rules, scales, straight edges, dividers, squares and protractors, layout simple figures on flat surfaces.
Comprehend moderately complex written material such as procedures, instructions, technical manuals, etc.
Qualifications - Hydro Mechanic C
The "C" Mechanic is an intermediate skilled position. The "C" Mechanic demonstrates all qualities of lower job classification and in addition, the "C" Mechanic is familiar with company rules and procedures and is learning their application. The experience gained in the previous job grade qualifies the "C" grade position to perform the basic routine plant operations and maintenance jobs. Job knowledge and skills have been developed to a "semiskilled" level primarily through on the job (hands on) training. "Semiskilled" indicates a basic level of ability to use one's knowledge effectively and readily in execution or performance of job duties.

The "B" Mechanic is a skilled position. The "B" Mechanic demonstrates all qualities of lower job classification and in addition, the "B" Mechanic understands company rules and procedures and is their application. The experience gained in the previous job grade qualifies the "B" grade position to perform the basic routine plant operations and advanced repair and maintenance jobs. Job knowledge and skills have been developed to a "skilled" level primarily through on the job (hands on) training. "Skilled" indicates an intermediate level of ability to use one's knowledge effectively and readily without direct supervision in the execution or performance of job duties.

The "A" Mechanic is a highly skilled position. The "A" Mechanic demonstrates all qualities of lower job classification and in addition, the "A" Mechanic demonstrates leadership skills of employees of lower classification. The experience gained in the previous job grade qualifies the "A" grade position to perform the basic routine plant operations and advanced repair and maintenance jobs, as well as leading and coordinating maintenance and repair projects. Job knowledge and skills have been developed to a "highly skilled" level primarily through on the job (hands on) training. "Highly Skilled" indicates a high level ability to use one's knowledge effectively and readily without direct supervision in the execution or performance of job duties.
