The Project Manager – National HVAC is responsible for leading the full lifecycle execution of HVAC construction and replacement projects across multiple markets nationwide. This role manages projects from handoff through closeout, ensuring safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery while protecting margin and optimizing cash flow.
This individual will report to the Director of Project Management and will operate within a national portfolio model, coordinating cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, Subcontractors, Accounting, and Field Teams. This role does not have direct reports but requires strong leadership through influence across internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Delivery
- Manage full lifecycle HVAC construction projects including RTU replacements, multi-site rollouts, retrofits, and capital improvement projects.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
- Coordinate equipment procurement and subcontractor mobilization to meet schedule requirements.
- Oversee submittals, permits, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Drive timely issue resolution to prevent schedule delays and cost overruns.
Financial Management & Margin Protection
- Own project financial performance, including cost tracking, forecasting, and gross margin accountability.
- Maintain accurate WIP reporting and provide monthly revenue and cost forecasts.
- Proactively manage change orders, scope shifts, and risk exposure.
- Partner with Accounting to ensure timely billing, accurate invoicing, and AR follow-up.
- Monitor labor productivity and subcontractor performance to protect profitability.
Subcontractor & Vendor Management
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors across multiple regions.
- Ensure subcontractor scope alignment, schedule adherence, and quality performance.
- Validate subcontractor invoices and progress against milestones.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships to mitigate equipment lead time risk.
Operational Coordination
- Collaborate with Service, Construction Operations, and Field Supervisors to ensure seamless execution.
- Ensure projects meet all safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain clear communication with customers regarding schedule, progress, and expectations.
- Support national standardization of project management processes and reporting.
Closeout & Documentation
- Ensure punch list completion and final inspections.
- Manage project closeout documentation, warranties, and as-builts.
- Conduct project post-mortems to identify lessons learned and margin improvement opportunities.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–10 years of HVAC construction project management experience.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, rooftop units (RTUs), controls, and multi-site project execution.
- Experience managing subcontractors across multiple states preferred.
- Solid financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and WIP management.
- Proficiency in project management software and ERP systems.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
