Be a part of the AI revolution with sustainable technology at Crusoe. Here, you'll drive meaningful innovation, make a tangible impact, and join a team that’s setting the pace for responsible, transformative cloud infrastructure.
About This Role:
Crusoe seeks a technology enthusiast and pragmatic legal advisor to serve as Product & Privacy Counsel at the director level, embedded within the Crusoe Cloud business. You will serve as a trusted partner to our Product Management and Cloud Engineering teams—advising on product development, data use, open source, IP, AI governance, and regulatory compliance as we build and scale some of the most impactful products in the industry.
This is a great opportunity to get deep into how AI infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and managed AI services work while tackling novel legal issues in a fast-paced environment. A genuine curiosity about how our products work "under the hood" is essential for success in this role.
What You’ll Be Working On:
Product Lifecycle Support: Partner with Cloud Engineering and Product Management from the early stages (reviewing PRDs and RFCs) through to product launches and drafting specific terms.
Privacy by Design: Advise on data use practices for IaaS and managed AI services, ensuring privacy by design principles are integrated into the technical architecture.
Complex Negotiations: Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements (DPAs), technology licenses, and partnership agreements.
AI Governance: Partner with the Risk and Compliance team to drive Crusoe's AI governance program, navigating the rapidly evolving landscape of global AI regulations.
Program Maturation: Build and mature Crusoe’s privacy program across cloud services, marketing efforts, and internal employee data.
Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and advise on US and global privacy laws, translating legal requirements into practical guidance for technical teams.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
Education & Bar: J.D. degree and active membership in at least one US state bar.
Experience: 5+ years of legal experience, including in-house or law firm experience with internet or technology companies.
Privacy Expertise: Deep expertise in US and global privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Product Counseling: Experience advising on product development with a genuine interest in the challenges faced by engineering and product teams.
Communication: Exceptional written skills with the ability to translate dense legal requirements into clear, actionable advice for non-lawyers.
Drafting: Strong legal drafting skills with a bias toward clarity and iterative stakeholder feedback.
Safety and Compliance: This position is designated a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required.
Bonus Points:
Direct experience collaborating with engineering teams in a "boots-on-the-ground" capacity.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, GPU-accelerated computing, and AI/ML data privacy considerations.
Experience with open-source licensing, technology IP, and export controls.
Proven ability to distinguish between legal and business risk pragmatically in a fast-moving environment.
