Position Overview
Winter Environmental is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to lead complex environmental and industrial remediation projects across the Southeast. This role is ideal for Project Managers with backgrounds in asbestos, lead, mold remediation, interior demolition, or industrial services who are looking to expand into broader environmental remediation and decommissioning work. If you have successfully managed regulated work, coordinated field crews, controlled jobsite risk, and delivered projects safely and profitably — your experience directly applies here. Winter Environmental performs a wide range of remediation services including soil and groundwater remediation, environmental system installations, tank cleaning and removals, facility decontamination, and industrial decommissioning, in addition to traditional abatement and demolition services.
Key Reponsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Manage environmental remediation and industrial services projects from award through close-out.
- Develop scopes, schedules, budgets, manpower plans, and logistics strategies.
- Oversee field crews, superintendents, subcontractors, and specialty vendors.
- Execute work involving regulated materials, confined spaces, and industrial environments.
Environmental & Industrial Remediation Scope
Projects may include:
- Soil and groundwater remediation activities
- Environmental system installations (pump & treat, treatment systems, controls)
- Tank cleanings, removals, and industrial vessel work
- Facility decommissioning and plant shutdown support
- Decontamination of industrial, manufacturing, and utility facilities
- Interior demolition and regulated material removal as enabling scopes
(Prior experience in all areas is not required — training and support are provided.)
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Lead safety planning and enforce site-specific HASPs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, RCRA, AHERA, and applicable state regulations.
- Coordinate with industrial hygienists, environmental consultants, and inspectors.
- Manage confined space, LOTO, hot work, and hazardous materials protocols.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as primary client contact for assigned projects.
- Communicate project status, risks, and changes proactively.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings, regulatory reviews, and close-out meetings.
Financial & Project Controls
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and change management.
- Support estimating and pre-construction efforts for remediation work.
- Review invoicing, cost reports, and project performance metrics.
Team Development
- Mentor Superintendents, Foremen, and Project Engineers.
- Support training and transition of abatement/demolition staff into remediation work.
- Promote a strong safety culture and operational discipline.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of project management experience in asbestos, lead, mold, interior demolition, industrial services, or environmental remediation.
- Proven ability to manage regulated work safely and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of OSHA requirements and hazardous materials controls.
- Experience managing field crews, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Ability to learn and apply environmental regulations and technical systems.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience transitioning from abatement or demolition into broader remediation scopes.
- Knowledge of soil remediation, tank systems, or industrial services (a plus, not required).
- OSHA 30-Hour, HAZWOPER 40-Hour, Lead RRP.
- Experience with industrial, manufacturing, power, or utility facilities.
- Familiarity with environmental reporting, manifests, and regulatory documentation.
