Summer Internship – Budget and Sustainability (Sustainability Analyst)
This is a summer internship opportunity working within the Office of Sustainabiliy, which is within the Department of Budget and Sustainability. The primary responsibilities of the intern are to (1) collect, manage, and track data, conduct research; (2) prepare spreadsheets, charts, and reports; (3) assist with outreach and Sustainable Coral Springs programs.
Rate of Pay:
Undergrad College - $15.00
Graduate - $18.00
Summer Internships are planned to run from June 8th to July 31st.
Examples of Duties
- Perform data collection, entry, management, analysis, tracking, and research
- Prepare diagnostic tools such as spreadsheets, charts, and tables
- Assist with the development of data dashboards
- Assist with implementation of “Sustainable Coral Springs” initiatives, including community outreach and education
- Evaluate strategies for achieving sustainability related metrics and goals; develop recommendations and observations; prepare descriptive information and reports
- Conduct tasks, as needed, to support the Department of Budget and Sustainability
Learning Outcomes:- Develop an understanding of municipal operations and the role cities play in sustainability.
- Understand how to develop, track, and present metrics for program evaluation.
- Learn strategic approaches for integrating sustainability through policy, protocols, programs, and partnerships.
- Develop and practice communication, workplace, and data management skills.
Typical Qualifications
Preferred, but not required:
- Undergraduate, graduate, or recently graduated in sustainability, ecology, public health, political science, environmental science, geography, or related field.
- Experience conducting research, collecting data, and cleaning data.
- Experience with Excel, Power BI, or Story Maps.
- Understanding of basic principles of sustainability.
