ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
NOTE: An employee assigned to this title shall perform a majority, but may not perform all, of the duties listed in this job description. Conversely, minor level duties performed on the job may not be listed and the incumbent will work cross-functionally within the Foundry with other Departments as needed to support EH&S goals identified within the Foundry.
- Work in a safe manner with a goal of zero harm.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental rules and regulations.
- Read and understand environmental, health and safety requirements & regulations.
- Perform necessary duties such as inspections, media sampling (i.e., stormwater, soil, air, etc.).
- Aid the EH&S Coordinator in managing the programmatic responsibilities of the ES&H Office.
- Research and draft EH&S regulatory guidelines and policies for the foundry.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Ensure proper execution of policies and procedures within areas of responsibility.
- Maintain clean and organized workstation.
- Must have good attendance and be reliable.
- All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Basic understanding of OSHA, DEP, EPA, and NFPA regulations.
· Familiarity with federal and state environmental, health, and safety laws and reporting requirements.
-Analytical Skills:
· Ability to analyze accident trends, safety data, and environmental impact reports.
· Basic ability to develop problem-solving skills for root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
-Communication Skills:
· Ability to write clear and concise reports, correspondence, and documentation.
· Ability to present information effectively to employees, management, and regulatory agencies.
· Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with staff at all levels.
-Organizational Skills:
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
· Detail-oriented with the ability to track and maintain accurate EHS records.
· Effective time-management skills.
-Technical Proficiency:
· Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS-related software.
· Ability to operate and maintain testing and monitoring equipment related to environmental safety (e.g., air quality testing, stormwater testing, etc.).
· Learn how to maintain environmental and safety databases.
-Problem-solving and Decision-Making:
· Ability to assess potential hazards, identify control measures, and make recommendations to the EH&S Coordinator on related matters.
· Ability to take prompt action in emergencies and act as knowledgeable resource to various foundry departments.
-Physical and Environmental Conditions:
· Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment with fluctuating temperatures, noise, and exposure to potentially hazardous materials.
· Must be capable of handling the job's physical demands, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing/walking for extended periods.
· Knowledge of how to operate a personal computer and basic computer skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
(a) High School education or equivalent
(b) Currently enrolled in a university, college or technical school with focus on engineering related studies in the metals industry
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak and communicate effectively with other employees and leadership throughout the organization.
- The ability to manage schedules, consider resources and communicate these needs effectively throughout the organization.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Telephone, personal computer (including word processing and other specialized software), metrology and various testing equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk or hear, ascend and descend stairs, ramps, etc., use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must be able to walk or stand for up to eight (8) hours.
