THE JOB
Ambipar is currently seeking Junior Environmental Consultants based in Swift Current, SK or surrounding area, within 1-hour proximity.
This role provides an opportunity to work alongside Project Managers and senior consultants to support environmental projects, gain technical experience, and develop a strong foundation in environmental assessment, reclamation, and remediation work.
WHAT YOUR DAYS WILL CONSIST OF:
- Support Project Managers with executing scopes of work and preparing cost estimates
- Assist in ensuring project requirements are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule
- Participate in technical, safety, quality assurance, and quality control programs
- Assist with Phase II and Phase III environmental site assessments
- Conduct site assessments and groundwater monitoring under supervision
- Support coordination and supervision of tree planting and reclamation activities
- Assist with meeting client and regulatory ground disturbance requirements
- Follow and support internal and client safety programs, SOPs, and regulatory requirements
- Learn and stay informed on applicable environmental legislation and regulatory updates with guidance from senior staff
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Reclamation, or a related discipline
- One (1) year of relevant field experience or equivalent co-op, internship, or practicum experience
- Interest in pursuing a professional designation (or currently articling) is considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness and ability to work in the field and travel as required
- Knowledge and experience with the 2010 Reclamation Criteria and Guidelines and the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Remediation Guidelines would be an asset
- Understanding of the upstream oil and gas regulatory requirements in AB, BC
- Experience with reclamation and remediation on private and public lands
- Strong soil characterization and vegetation identification skills
- Good physical health with willingness to travel and work in the field for extended periods
- Valid driver’s license
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS
- Familiarity with Alberta’s Water Act and wetland classification
- Exposure to the 2010 Reclamation Criteria and Guidelines and Tier 1 & Tier 2 Remediation Guidelines
- Understanding of upstream oil and gas regulatory requirements in Alberta and British Columbia
- Experience supporting reclamation or remediation work on private or public lands
- Soil characterization and vegetation identification experience
- Pesticide Applicator’s License
