Darigold is seeking a Director of Environmental Compliance at our Jerome, Idaho location. This position will report to Darigold’s Sr Director Environmental Compliance. This position is responsible for leading Environmental regulatory compliance and best management practices through the implementation of the Darigold Environmental Management System across all Darigold facilities. This position must work closely with the Plant Managers, Environmental Managers, and Plant EHS Managers to effectively coordinate and implement critical environmental programs to assure compliance with all regulatory requirements, government agency mandates and expectations, and Darigold’s environmental policies. This position is also expected to effectively respond to environmental incidents and operational upsets.
What You will Do
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local requirements governing environmental protection standards by staying current with federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
- Interfaces with various regulatory agencies, plant staff, Env Managers, and the corporate Env Team as
- Monitor environmental compliance and assure timely internal and external reporting and data input into Darigold’s tracking Alert and advise Env Managers, Plant Managers, and corporate Env staff when permit and/or compliance issues develop.
- Respond and provide guidance and assistance for all emergency
- Implement all aspects of environmental investigations, data analysis, recurrence prevention programs, and continuous improvement procedures.
- Directly responsible for the day-to-day environmental compliance activities at the Jerome and Bozeman facilities.
- Compliance program development and implementation.
- Supervisory Responsibility: Indirectly.
- Travel: Periodically to Darigold plants and offices.
What You Will Bring
- 8 years+ experience in managing environmental compliance programs in a manufacturing field or related industry.
- Bachelor’s degree required in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
- 3 + years’ experience leading and managing teams, either direct or indirect.
- Professional communication skills and ability to respond effectively to environmental compliance issues, inquires, and/or complaints are of critical importance. Also, must be able to clearly communicate under pressure. Team leadership skills are also critical.
- Analyze data, write, and submit Must be able to maintain environmental compliance software systems and utilize data to drive continuous improvement. Develop and deliver presentations on compliance topics to plant management, plant staff, and public groups when requested by Darigold’s Chief Production Officer.
- Communicate technical and complex concepts and requirements. Person in this position must be able to conduct technical training and engage employees in effective learning
- Pursue and productively participate in continuing technical education as deemed necessary by the Chief Production Officer.
