About the Position:
Sceye is seeking a Senior Environmental Testing Engineer to lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of environmental test campaigns for our advanced aerospace platform. This role is critical to validating system performance, reliability, and safety across demanding operational environments, including high-altitude and stratospheric conditions.
You will serve as a technical leader responsible for translating system-level requirements into robust environmental test programs, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring test readiness, execution, and reporting to meet internal and external standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of environmental test campaigns, including thermal, altitude, vibration, humidity, and related testing
- Translate system and subsystem requirements into clear test objectives, margins, procedures, and acceptance criteria
- Own environmental test planning from concept through execution, analysis, and final reporting
- Coordinate and lead test readiness reviews (TRRs) and support test execution activities
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, including systems, structures, avionics, and operations
- Own and maintain environmental test infrastructure, including equipment specification, procurement, and vendor coordination
- Analyze test data, document results, and present findings and recommendations to engineering leadership
- Ensure testing aligns with applicable industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810 or similar) and internal quality expectations
- Identify risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities within test programs and infrastructure
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Test Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in environmental testing, including at least 3 years leading test campaign development and execution for aerospace or complex systems
- Demonstrated experience designing and executing environmental test programs
- Strong understanding of environmental test standards and best practices
- Proven ability to lead technically complex efforts and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience owning test equipment, facilities, or infrastructure
- Strong analytical, documentation, and technical communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with high-altitude or stratospheric testing environments
- Background in lighter-than-air systems, unmanned systems, or novel aerospace platforms
- Familiarity with FAA or other regulatory certification testing requirements
- Experience working in startup or scale-up aerospace environments
- Experience with test automation, data acquisition systems, and advanced instrumentation
