The Opportunity
The Graphic Designer is APC’s in-house design specialist, providing creative leadership and high-quality execution across visual assets that support the marketing, communications, and operational needs of the Park, Zoo, and The Leaf. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing, this role ensures APC’s visual brand is engaging, contemporary, and consistently expressed across all digital and physical touchpoints.
The Graphic Designer leads the design of a diverse range of materials while safeguarding the integrity of APC’s visual identity. In-house deliverables may include digital assets, print collateral, publications, advertising, operational and interpretive signage, and event branding.
Responsibilities
- Provide creative leadership and hands-on design for in-house campaigns, events, exhibits, signage, wayfinding, and seasonal activations.
- Collaborate with other members of the Marketing and Communications team, internal departments, and external partners to deliver cohesive, high-quality visual assets that support programming, engagement, and destination marketing efforts.
- Act as a brand steward by reviewing and guiding creative work produced by APC’s agency of record to ensure alignment with brand standards and strategic objectives.
- Develop and maintain design templates, brand tools, and asset libraries to support consistent and efficient in-house production. Organize and maintain design files and digital assets to ensure accessibility, version control, and long-term usability.
- Support the coordination of photography, videography, motion, print, and signage production by providing creative direction, specifications, and brand oversight in collaboration with internal coordinators and external vendors.
- Ensure design work reflects APC’s values of sustainability, accessibility, inclusion, and innovation.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, setting priorities, estimating timelines, and meeting deadlines.
Required Education, Training, and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field required.
- Minimum 6–8 years of progressive experience in graphic design, with a proven portfolio demonstrating high-quality, modern, and diverse creative work.
- Demonstrated experience managing and evolving a visual brand identity within a complex, multi-location organization or tourism/cultural attraction.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom) required.
- Familiarity with Figma, Canva for Teams, or other collaborative design tools considered an asset.
- Familiarity with video editing, motion graphics and applications like Premiere Pro and After Effects an asset.
- Photography, illustration, or art direction experience considered an asset.
