POSITION OVERVIEW
The Seasonal Plant Stand Associate assists the Plant Stand Sales Coordinators in all aspects of Plant Stand operations. This part-time position is responsible for stand set up, customer service, direct sales, sales tracking, and promotion of Oxbow’s programs and events during weekend open hours. Seasonal Plant Stand Associates also work in the Native Plant Nursery to maintainthe quality of retail plants. Nursery responsibilities include organization, weeding, irrigation, and inventory monitoring.
The Seasonal Plant Stand Associate’s position is part-time scheduled for 16-24 hours per week, dependent on operational needs.Shifts are available Thursday,Friday, Saturday,and Sunday 8:30am-5:00pm, with a rotating schedule.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plant Stand Operations
- Perform direct retail sales to customers, with a focus on cultivating positive customer relationships

- Manage inventory of product on display and restock, cull, and reorganize as needed throughout the day

- Assist withmaintaining retail floor appearance and presenting all products in a visually appealing way, thinking about abundance, color, and sunlight/watering needs

- Maintain proper sales and payment processing etiquette including reporting sales and closing numbers accurately and according to protocol

- Promote the features and benefits of Oxbow-grown native plants

- Care for native plants at the Plant Stand, including inventory, pest management, watering, pruning and weeding
- Native Plant Nursery Operations
- Perform duties around plant organization, weeding, irrigation, and inventory monitoring.

- Assist in preparing plant orders and loading/unloading delivery vehicles
- General
- Assist with weekend tasks around the farm as needed

- Represent Oxbow in a positive, professional manner, engaging with and educating visitors about Oxbow’s mission and programs

- Assist with and participate in events as needed throughout the season

- Perform other duties, as needed and assigned by the Manager of Native Plant Sales or Manager of Native Plant Nursery
QUALIFICATIONS
- Consistently available to work 16-24 hours, including weekends (morning and afternoon)
- Excellent customer service
- Enthusiasm for native plants of the Pacific Northwest
- Physical dexterity and agility necessary in all aspects of the job for safety and efficiency
- Consistent attention to detail
- Ability to work standing, sitting, bending over or kneeling; to lift heavy and awkward objects, up to 50 lbs.; to perform physical work, such as digging or planting.
- Ability and willingness to work in inclement weather including high heat, freezing conditions, rain, snow, smoke, etc.
- Ability to take direction, ask for help/clarity, and accept constructive feedback on work and technique
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Clear, consistent communicator
- Flexible, creative, and able to perform well in diverse conditions and under pressure

COMPENSATION
This is a non-exempt seasonal, part-time position, paying $23.50 per hour. Oxbow offers paid sick time off, accrued bi-monthly.
