Position Summary:
OceanX is seeking a Data Intern to support the Data Team in building data pipelines, visualizations, and analytical workflows. This role provides hands-on experience working with data produced by the Science and Digital Programs teams to improve operational efficiency and increase data visibility across the organization.
This program will run from June through August and involves working approximately 40 hours per week. This opportunity operates on a hybrid work schedule in our NYC office to allow for in-person meetings/collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will work in one or more of the following areas, depending on their background and project assignment:
- Work closely with our Digital Programs and Science teams to develop project plans and requirements for data projects
- Develop data ingestion pipelines using Python and related technologies
- Build data normalization / transformation processes using DBT and SQL
- Build data visualizations using Metabase
- Contribute to user-facing Science Data Products using Python and Javascript/Typescript
- Contribute to Agentic AI workflow design and implementation
Qualifications:
Professional Experience:
- Actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields
- Familiarity with one or more of the following: Python, SQL, Javascript/Typescript
- Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL or Postgres
- Familiarity with version control software such as Git

Compensation:
Compensation for the role consists of a $20/hour wage. This position is eligible for statutory benefits only.
