The Environmental Scientist Supervisor – Group 2 General Permits is responsible for overseeing the implementation of program requirements for the Clean Water Act stormwater program, including authorizations under industrial and construction master general permits, issuance of stormwater master general permits and major and minor MS4 permits as well as assisting with other LPDES permitting tasks as needed. This is a new position; the Group 2 Supervisor will work closely with the General Permits Group 1 Supervisor to ensure LPDES General Permits are processed in a timely fashion and work flow is equitably distributed across each group.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus three years of experience in an environmental program, nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental, analytical, or research laboratory, LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems), or laboratory auditing; OR
A master’s degree in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus two years of the experience in an environmental program, nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental, analytical, or research laboratory, LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems), or laboratory auditing; OR
A doctorate in an environmental, biological, atmospheric, chemical, health, nuclear or physical science field, an engineering field, a geography/geosciences field, a natural resources field, or in a statistics or quantitative methods field plus one year of experience in an environmental program, nuclear energy or radiation protection program; Geographic Information Systems (GIS); an environmental, analytical, or research laboratory, LIMS (Lab Integrated Management Systems), or laboratory auditing.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Supervises lower level environmental scientist staff; organizes workloads and reviews the work of subordinates to ensure technical accuracy, completeness, and adherence to all department policies, state and federal regulations.
- Supervises the issuance of coverage of under several master general permits and master general permit development.
- Supervises the preparation and issuance of draft and final MS4 permits, modifications, and MS4 annual report reviews.
- Negotiates stormwater policy questions with EPA; participates in multi-state storm water workgroups and follows the development of new rules and regulations pertaining to storm water.
- Provides permit support and guidance as needed to the Office of Environmental Compliance and the regulated community.

Compensation: This position offers a Special Entrance Rate (SER) listed below. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job tittle and salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
- Environmental Scientist Supervisor: $31.38 per hour
