As a Junior Environmental Consultant with our Contaminated Lands team in Whitby, you’ll grow your technical skills while helping deliver high‑impact site assessment and remediation projects.
Your Impact
- Apply a Safety‑First mindset by following site‑specific health and safety plans and identifying potential hazards to protect clients, colleagues, and the public.
- Support environmental projects involving Phase I and Phase II ESAs, remediation activities, Risk Assessments, and Records of Site Condition under O. Reg. 153/04.
- Contribute to client compliance with Ontario Regulation 406/19 by supporting excess soil characterization and management for construction projects.
- Carry out office-based tasks including historical research, regulatory file review, data tabulation, interpretation of lab results, and preparing technical reports.
- Coordinate subcontractors and logistics for field programs, ensuring documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with industry standards.
- Perform field tasks such as soil logging, groundwater and surface water sampling, soil vapour sampling, indoor air sampling, and environmental surveying.
- Supervise subcontractors conducting ground disturbance, utility locating, borehole drilling, monitoring well installation, and remedial excavations.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- You bring a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline, or a diploma in engineering technology.
- You’re eligible (or soon eligible) for professional certification such as P.Eng. or P.Geo. and motivated to grow into a professional designation pathway.
- You have foundational experience conducting soil and groundwater sampling, logging, or other environmental fieldwork.
- You understand Ontario’s environmental regulatory framework, including O. Reg. 153/04 and O. Reg. 406/19, and are eager to deepen your expertise.
- You thrive outdoors and are ready to spend a significant portion of your early career on site—embracing Ontario’s full spectrum of seasonal conditions.
- You’re organized, detail‑oriented, and dedicated to producing defensible field notes and documentation that meet industry and regulatory standards.
- You hold a valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle for local project work.

Compensation
- AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $60,100 – $79,600
- MB & ON) $54,800 – $75,400
- NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $54,200 – $72,000
