We are looking for an experienced Sustainability Specialist to strengthen our sustainability and climate expertise. In this strategically important role, you will take ownership of key environmental, climate and product-related regulatory topics and act as a subject matter expert across the organization and external stakeholder network.
What you'll do
As our Sustainability Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and driving the company’s environmental and climate agenda in close collaboration with business, R&D, procurement and external partners.
Your key responsibilities include:
Environmental & Climate Performance:
Independently planning, conducting and interpreting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and supporting their application in business and product development
Managing and further developing Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) processes
Owning and continuously developing corporate greenhouse gas accounting (Scope 1–3) in line with the GHG Protocol
Setting, monitoring and developing emission reduction targets, related action plans and climate roadmaps
Preparing, maintaining and reporting Science Based Targets (SBTi)
Acting as an expert in sustainability and climate reporting in line with GRI standards
Analysing environmental and climate data and translating insights into clear, decision-supporting information.
Product Sustainability & Environmental Compliance:
Working closely with Product Development / R&D to integrate environmental and sustainability considerations into products and solutions
Monitoring and ensuring compliance with global material and substance regulations (e.g. REACH, RoHS, SCIP)
Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of changes in global substance restrictions and proactively assessing their impact on the organization and product portfolio
Managing SCIP submissions and related database entries
Preparing, maintaining and updating compliance reports and certificates (e.g. RoHS Declarations of Conformity, REACH declarations)
Driving internal awareness and preparedness for upcoming sustainability and product-related regulations impacting materials, substances and products.
Stakeholder Collaboration & External Reporting:
Working closely with procurement and suppliers to support supplier emissions data, sustainability requirements and improvement initiatives
Supporting and managing sustainability disclosures and assessments such as CDP and EcoVadis
Actively monitoring environmental and sustainability legislation at EU and national level, interpreting requirements and supporting their practical implementation across the business
Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, including management, business units, suppliers and external partners
Following best practices, standards and emerging sustainability trends.
What you'll bring
We expect you to have:
A relevant university degree
Several years of experience in environmental and/or sustainability expert roles
Strong, hands-on expertise in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and its application in business and product development
Solid experience with Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)
Practical experience in corporate GHG accounting (Scope 1–3, GHG Protocol)
Proven experience in setting, monitoring and developing emission reduction targets
Good knowledge of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) framework
Strong expertise in GRI sustainability reporting standards
Experience with or solid understanding of CDP and EcoVadis assessments and reporting processes
Good understanding of environmental and product-related sustainability legislation and reporting requirements
Ability to actively track regulatory developments and assess their business impacts
Experience working cross-functionally with R&D, procurement and supplier interfaces
A proactive, independent working style with a strong ownership mindset
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English.
Following qualifications are considered as an advantage:
Hands-on experience in applying CSRD and ESRS requirements
Experience in developing climate roadmaps and emission reduction programmes
Experience in supplier engagement and value chain decarbonisation
Consulting background or experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects
Experience working in an international business environment
Finnish language skills.
