About the Role
As an EHS Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring our operations adhere to the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance, requiring a deep understanding of federal, state, and local regulations, as well as a commitment to fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship throughout our facility. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining our license to operate and in protecting the well-being of our employees and the surrounding community. In this role, you will report to the site's Operations Director.
What You Will Do
- Lead and manage the implementation of EHSS strategies aligned with the group's overall objectives to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and manage all required reporting and
- documentation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Develop and implement specific tools and initiatives to increase awareness and capability in EHS, achieving EHSS objectives.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits (Gembas) of the facilities and processes to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Lead investigations to determine root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and sustain an adequately resourced and effective EHS function, maintaining robust succession plans and enabling career development for EHSS team members.
- Exercise authority to stop any process or activity or provide coaching when unsafe conditions or behaviors are detected that could risk worker health or environmental integrity.
- Oversee the Process Safety Management program for highly hazardous chemicals, including process hazard analyses, and develop the management of change (MOC) procedures.
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs, ensuring proper storage, handling, and disposal.
- Develop and deliver EHS training for employees at all organizational levels.
- Track and analyze EHS performance metrics to identify trends and improve decision-making, share learnings and best practices across zones and global initiatives.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Proven experience with Process Safety Management and Risk Management Plan regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both management and hourly employees.
- Knowledge of Mexican regulations (STPS, SEMARNAT, PROFEPA, local authorities).
- English 90%, advanced English level (reading and writing that allow fluid presentations)
Bonus Points if You Have
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar professional certification is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of international EHS regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Knowledge of corporate sustainability programs, carbon footprint reduction, or circular economy practices.
- Ability to use tools like Power BI or advanced Excel for EHS performance dashboards and predictive analysis.
