The ICCT is looking for a Policy and Data Analysis Intern based in either our Washington, D.C. or San Francisco, CA office. This fellowship provides an opportunity to work at the intersection of policy and data analysis to support applied research conducted by internal ICCT programs as well as external partners committed to accelerating transitions to zero-emission electric vehicles. You will report to a Senior Researcher in ICCT’s Modeling Center.
You Will:
- Track and compare environmental transportation policies adopted or proposed by national governments, states, and cities.
- Analyze and incorporate datasets relating to fleet/vehicle characteristics and energy/emissions performance into our models.
- Help develop inputs and scenarios for transportation models to quantify the impact of policies and technologies on emissions, air quality, public health, and charging infrastructure needs
- Co-author reports, journal articles, and other publications
You Have:
- A strong academic record in engineering, economics, policy, transportation, environment, or energy studies as a rising senior or a graduate student.
- Demonstrated academic or professional experience in vehicle technology, climate change, air quality, energy, or environmental issues; familiarity with environmental and energy challenges in the transportation sector is preferred.
- Superior proficiency in data analysis with Python (pandas, scipy, numpy, matplotlib) or R (tidyverse) alongside Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, complex conditional statements).
- Demonstrated skills in policy or related research, analysis, and presentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and engage effectively with team members.
Our Benefits:
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) internship opportunity that will be based in our Washington, D.C., or San Francisco office for 12 weeks and have an hourly rate starting at $23.87(DC) or $26.25(SF). Interns are eligible for a limited benefits package, which includes paid time off, internet subsidy, and other benefits. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
