We are looking for a Commissioning Supervisor to join the commissioning team of a prototype plant dedicated to testing liquid hydrogen (LH2) liquefaction technologies for an R&D organization. You will support the start-up and commissioning phase in a shift-based organization (3x8), working within an existing team and contributing to safe, structured, and transparent execution.
As part of the start-up phase, you will be deployed on shift to:
Support commissioning and start-up activities on a cryogenic hydrogen liquefaction pilot/prototype
Operate in a team setting where your role may involve supervising pilot operations or ensuring minimal-operation monitoring, depending on the shift position and plant status
Contribute to commissioning readiness, functional testing, and safe ramp-up to stable operations
The role is performed in a shift rhythm (3x8) with a 6 days out of 7 organization.
The main tasks and duties are:
- Supervise and/or support commissioning and start-up activities for a cryogenic LH2/H2 unit
- Perform and document functional checks, loop checks support, and commissioning tests (as applicable)
- Execute tuning and troubleshooting during start-up, including diagnosis of instrumentation/electrical/control issues
- Read and use engineering documentation effectively (P&IDs, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, etc.)
- Interface with the commissioning team and participate actively in coordination and follow-up meetings
- Ensure strict compliance with safety and operational rules during all start-up activities
The expected deliverables are:
- Daily activity reports recorded in the shift logbook / âcahier de posteâ detailing:
- tasks performed
- issues encountered
- corrective actions / solutions implemented
- Commissioning documentation kept complete and up to date, including test reports and associated records
- Active participation in coordination routines and progress tracking
- Delivery against agreed schedule objectives and commissioning priorities
Requirements
2â5 years of experience in Instrumentation / Operations / Maintenance, preferably in industrial commissioning/start-up environments
Proven ability to work in start-up / commissioning teams and in shift operations
Cryogenic unit start-up: expert-level capability
Tuning & troubleshooting: expert-level capability
Hydrogen unit start-up: confirmed experience
Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams and related documentation
Electrical fundamentals and practical field understanding (confirmed level)
Strong safety culture and methodical execution mindset
Clear reporting habits and discipline in documentation
Able to integrate quickly into an existing team and operate effectively under shift conditions
Hands-on, field-oriented, and comfortable with dynamic start-up constraints
