The Role
At Fisher & Paykel Home Solutions, we’re transforming homes across New Zealand and Australia with integrated, low‑carbon technologies that make everyday life better. As we expand our solar and whole‑of‑home energy offerings, we’re now looking for an experienced Solar Design Engineer to deliver high‑quality solar PV and whole‑home energy system designs for residential projects. This role is available for an immediate start for a fixed term of 6 months initially.
What You’ll Do
You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, technically excellent solar and home energy designs for our customers.
You will:
- Produce detailed solar and whole‑home energy system designs that meet technical, regulatory, and commercial standards.
- Collaborate with Product, Installation, Service, Sales, and wider Haier Group teams to ensure end‑to‑end quality outcomes for customers.
- Engage directly with project requirements—specifications, drawings, costings—and take ownership from design through to winning the project.
- Support the continual improvement of our design processes and build our internal knowledge base.
- Contribute to decarbonisation goals by recommending innovative, future‑fit solutions.
What You Bring
- 3+ years designing and/or installing solar systems (HVAC or hot water design a bonus).
- Engineering degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong working knowledge of AS/NZS 4777, 5033, 5139, 4509 and related standards.
- Proficiency with solar design software: SolarPlus, OpenSolar, Aurora, PVSyst and remove SolarPro, HomePro and PVPlanner.
- Experience with modelling tools like Revit, Archicad, TRNSYS, Amesim.
- Advanced Excel and strong general Microsoft skills.
- Ability to interpret specs, schematics, and technical drawings with precision.
