Technology Engineering and Manufacturing of Rectifier Thyristor
- Rectifier duty transformers (multi-pulse, phase-shifting, K-factor considerations)
- Thyristor/IGBT-based rectifier systems
- Design cooling systems, insulation class, losses, impedance, and protection schemes.
- Supervise factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
- Testing and commissioning and synchronization with grid/plant electrical systems.
2. Harmonic Management & Power Quality
- Analysed harmonic distortion generated by rectifier loads.
- Design/review harmonic mitigation strategies:
- Passive harmonic filters (tuned, detuned)
- Active harmonic filters (AHF)
- Ensure compliance with IEEE-519 / IEC harmonic limits.
- Monitor power quality parameters during operation and recommend corrective actions.
3. APFC & Reactive Power Control
- Design and review APFC systems to maintain target power factor.
- Ensure coordination between APFC panels and harmonic filters.
- Optimize capacitor bank ratings, detuning reactors, and control logic.
- Troubleshoot frequent tripping, capacitor failures, and resonance issues.
4. Power System Engineering & Design
- Review and validate electrical designs related to:
- Power transformers (step-down, isolation, rectifier duty transformers)
- Rectifier units for electrolysers (AC–DC conversion)
- Harmonic filters (passive/active)
- APFC (Automatic Power Factor Correction) panels
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards (IEC, IEEE, IS, utility/grid codes).
- Perform load calculations, short-circuit studies, harmonic analysis, and power quality studies.
- Coordinate with OEMs, EPC contractors, and consultants during design finalization.
5. Commissioning & Start-up Support
Lead electrical commissioning activities for:
- Transformers
- Rectifier units
- AHF units
- APFC units
- HT & LT packages
